OCR: BBlobal Neburg Natural barrier on India/Pakistan border The Thar, or Great Indian Desert is a barren area that often suffers from terrible sand storms with winds up to 90 miles an hour. Separating India and Pakistan, it is two hundred miles wide in places. Unlike many deserts, the Thar has little underground water and so this inhospitable area is home to few animals or people. Some of the sand dunes in the Thar desert are as high as a skyscraper. CLICK TO ENLARGE FHOTOGRAPH
